This is my favorite picture of our weekend!
Another Albuquerque Balloon Fiesta has come and gone and so has the traffic, thank goodness! I LOVE the balloon fest but I’m usually ready to lose my mind by that last weekend. The University that Georgia and I work for is literally one block from the BF grounds so as you can imagine, coming and going to work is like getting onto a Military base. It’s a good thing that this event is one of our absolute favorite things to do all year. It’s also pretty awesome that our company pays for us and our families to attend.
This year, like last year, we packed up the camper and spent the weekend at the Balloon Fiesta RV Park. I’m sure that as you all read this you are probably asking yourself – why would anyone pay to #1: camp in town and #2: spend the weekend with a couple thousand senior citizens?! As surprising as this may sound, it really is so much FUN! Georgia loves any excuse to use our camper and I enjoy the fact that we don’t have to drive several hours before arriving at our destination. There is also such a community feeling that you have in the evenings as everyone is barbecuing, listening to music and havin some beer. This year we were joined by our friends Anthony, Brandon and Andrea. We went the potluck route for dinner and everything was deliciouso (especially Andrea’s apple cobbler!)
Every year our company rents a few VIP tents for the staff and serves breakfast, coco and other goodies. Let me just say that it’s a lot easier to wake up at 4am when you’re bused across the street and served warm food and drinks! Georgia was a bit more busy this year than in years past because she was in charge of our alumni event which took place Saturday morning. Her event couldn’t have gone better and we were all so proud of her! Good job lady.
Following our mix and mingle with the work peeps, we headed out to see all of the lovely balloons. I was surprised by how many new special shape balloons there were this year. I think it’s funny that regardless of how many times one goes to the Balloon Fiesta, we all still take about a hundred pictures of the beautiful balloon filled sky. Who could blame us – it’s amazing every time. Our University had their balloon out as usual, only this year me and G got to climb inside of the actual balloon as it lay on its side to take a picture! This is something I’ve wanted to do for years and it was definitely the highlight of our day. Georgia hired a professional photographer for the event and he was able to snap a pic of us in the belly of the balloon! I’m hoping it comes out good because I would love to use it on our Christmas cards this year :)
Pretty much the best donuts EVER!
We had a pretty great weekend… which I think is evident by these post-fiesta napping pics – lol! Georgia was so tired she passed out on the mattress after I stripped the sheets :)
Until next year…
