Gracie’s 1st Halloween – Part II

Halloween was a CRAZY day and it went a little something like this...

We finally made it home from the airport at 12am so when our alarm went off early Halloween morning we felt like a couple of zombies (pun intended).  I scheduled professional pictures for Gracie on Halloween because the studio didn’t have any openings prior to our trip, which meant that picture prep began the moment we got out of bed.  We had tried baby girl’s costume on her the day we left to LA only to discover that her little lion head didn’t fit!!  The fabric piece that was supposed to velcro below her chin was too big and covered her mouth instead.  Luckily my wife is a genius and suggested a design change that ended up working out great.  While we were able to salvage the lion head, the redesign took most of Halloween morning so we were a bit late getting to our appointment.

Grace hadn’t napped all morning so she passed out the moment we loaded her in the Jeep and only got around 20 minutes of sleep from the house to the photography studio.  This meant that she was super tired and not really in the mood to take pictures once we arrived.  Thankfully we have the happiest kid on earth and it took no time at all to get some smiles out of her.  The appointment went great and resulted in some of the cutest pictures I’ve ever seen!  Really, ever!  Following the appointment we headed back home to get ready to take Gracie trick-o-treating at our work.  That was the plan anyway – however upon arrival back at the house, we realized that the studio sent us home with the wrong picture package, which meant I had to travel back across town (during rush hour) to retrieve our correct order.

Thankfully this is where things started getting less stressful and began feeling more like Halloween!  Together with baby, me and G put on our costumes (K: Kung Fu Panda, G: A black sheep) and headed to grandma and grandpa’s house.  When we arrived we rang the doorbell and were greeted by a very surprised and happy grandma Grace!  This was our first of 4 stops so we quickly took pictures, enjoyed some candy and watched as Grace played with the family dog, Ozzie.

Our next stop was Nani’s house where we took even more pictures and enjoyed some green chile stew.  My mom spent several evenings working on Gracie’s costume with me and teaching me SO MUCH about sewing that it was great to see her gush over our little lion!  Thank you so much, mom!  I couldn’t have done it without you. :)

Baby girl’s first Halloween ended with a visit to auntie Anna’s house followed by a quick stop at uncle Dom and auntie Angela’s casa.  Grace LOVED seeing all of her cousins and was spoiled beyond belief.  It was a busy and somewhat stressful day but it turned out to be one very special and memorable Halloween for all of us.

Happy Halloween baby girl.  Your mamas love you more than you can imagine!
