2012: Year at a glance

This is my second installment of the Roybal family, year at a glance and what a year it was!  The past 12 months have been full of joy, excitement, LEARNING, loving and getting pooped and peed on A LOT, hehe.  I can say without a doubt that 2012 will go down in our book of life as an amazingly significant year for us, predominately because we became parents for the first time – something that we worked tirelessly for 3 years to make happen.  There is so much that took place I could write a book, but instead, here is our year at a glance ~

We began 2012 with not one, but two beautiful baby showers.  Best friends and family ever!

Together we finished Gracie’s nursery with help from the fam and LOVED the way it turned out.

My BFF shared her gift of photography with us, taking the most beautiful maternity pictures of Georgia.  I am just now (9 months later…) in the process of framing a few of our favorites to hang in the entryway photo collage I’m redesigning.  Pictures of photo project coming soon.

We became MAMAS and 2 weeks early at that!  Our little Gracie girl made her appearance on March 7th, 2012 and it was the most amazing, challenging, emotional and unforgettable day of our lives!

Slowly but surly we began the process of getting settled into our new lives as parents.  We learned a ton about how to feed and care for a baby with a cleft lip and fell more in love everyday.

As a family of three, we left our safe and secure little nest for the first time and survived.  It was scary venturing out but very much needed… cabin fever!

We celebrated our first holiday as a family (Easter) and had Gracie’s newborn pictures taken all in the same weekend.

Together with my family we took Grace on her first of many camping trips.  She did awesome and made her mamas so proud of her.

Grace took her first road trip up to Penasco, NM to visit G’s family.

Our big, strong gal pulled through her cleft lip surgery like a champ!  At just 4 months Grace had to endure pain that no baby should have to experience and yet she came out of it with a smile.  I will be forever grateful for our talented surgeon and nurses and of course, Gracie’s guardian angels for watching over her.

Just 2 weeks later our babe underwent her second medical procedure to have her lip sutures removed.  She did amazing!

Along with Nani and Grandma, we attended our first Smile Fest.  This is an event for families of babies born with cleft lip/palates and will be something that we attend every year.

Mommy and Grace got in a pretty bad car accident but were (thank you Jesus!) ok.  G ended up getting a newer/nicer Jeep out of it that is now paid off – so that was a plus.

I learned how to make baby food AND I learned how to sew!  Move over Martha Stewart!

We took our first family vacation, i.e. baby’s first plane ride and she did pretty darn good.  She got to see LA, feel the waves of the ocean for the first time and spend quality time with her uncles.

We took our first ever professional family photos AND Grace met Santa.  December was one heck of an action packed month for the babe and for us!

And that’s our year at a glance.  I don’t think I realized how truly hectic and wonderful it was until writing this post.  Cheers to 2012!

    1. It was a good catch up for me too, haha! I know I don't have to tell you this, but kiddos grow so fast you don't really notice all they've done or how much they've changed until you look back on the year. It's crazy!

I'm glad you found our blog and I look forward to keeping up with yours too. :)

    1. OMG, you're going to love doing an owl theme! When we were working on Gracie's nursery I told G, "this must be the year of the owl"! There was so much cute owl stuff everywhere and there still is.

      Happy decorating :)
